When I bought my Nissan Xterra in 2010, I wanted a yellow one. Nissan did not make them in yellow that year… I was bummed. I didn’t have an affinity for any other color, so I went with white thinking that the neutral color would work well with a car wrap (signage) design to advertise my business. That was 5 years ago.
I finally got the courage to put myself out there and designed the car wrap. Now I drive around in a billboard! My name and website are splashed all over the car along with samples of my paintings. Wow, I thought, people will be staring at me, waving at me, giving me a thumbs up and stopping me in the street! …Not! I’m barely noticed! People are so focused on their own lives (and cell phones) that a bomb going off wouldn’t even turn their heads.
For me, it’s a personal accomplishment of which I am very proud. It’s a testament to how much I have grown. (I was so shy in school, I was afraid to raise my hand to go to the bathroom!). At the very least, I hope to bring a little beauty to every place I drive.
